nougat flan recipe

How to make nougat flan at home

Ingredients

  • 200 grams of soft nougat
  • 500 ml milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 100 grams of sugar
  • Liquid caramel for the mold

preparation of the nougat flan

Preparation

  • First, crumble the soft nougat into small pieces. You can use a sharp knife or even a blender to grind it if you prefer it in powdered form.
  • In a saucepan, pour the milk and add the crumbled nougat. Heat over medium-low heat and stir constantly until the nougat is completely dissolved and the mixture is homogeneous. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • While the nougat mixture is cooling, prepare the liquid caramel. You can use store-bought caramel or make your own by heating sugar in a pan until it melts and turns golden brown. Pour the caramel into the flan mold, making sure to cover the bottom well.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until frothy and light-colored. Add the cooled nougat mixture and continue beating until all ingredients are fully integrated.
  • Pour the mixture into the mold with the caramel and cover it with aluminum foil. Place the mold inside an ovenproof pan, and add hot water in the pan until it reaches about halfway up the mold to make a bain-marie.
  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Then insert the pan with the mold into the oven and bake for approximately 45-50 minutes, or until the flan is firm to the touch, but still slightly wobbly in the center.
  • Once ready, remove the mold from the oven and let the flan cool completely to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before unmolding.
  • To unmold the flan, run a knife around the edges of the mold to loosen it. Place a plate upside down over the mold and carefully turn it over, allowing the liquid caramel to cover the flan.

And voilà! Now you have a delicious homemade nougat flan ready. You can decorate with some chopped almonds or a pinch of cinnamon powder to enhance its flavor even more.
